SELF-Provisioning For End User Phones

Okay

I saw many post from people complain about self-provisioning they cant get it to work  or they hear  IVR keeps saying “This device could not be associated with your account…”I decide to make my own and try the service my self

The Self-Provisioning feature been introduced in CUCM version 10 it allows an end user to plug a new phone out of the box into the network and follow a few prompts to identify the user and Walla it’s working with minimal administrative effort.

It’s been released to make the lives of the administrators easier.  So Smile ;D
Lets start

go to User Management – User/Phone Add – Universal line Template – Add New
Name the Template
and choose to fill the line Description and Alerting Name as you wish i did first name and last name plus my description Also the Route Partition and CSS

Also you have option to fill the Call forwarding if you want

Second go to User Management – User/Phone Add – Universal Device Template – Add New
Fill the Name and Device Description as you Wish and Choose Device pool and Security Profile and Also the SIP Profile and Phone button template just to make sure your phone get all the detail instead of going back and Edit

go to User Management – User Settings – User Profile – Add New
Name it and from Drop Down Select the Device Template you create fir your Desk Phone and Mobile and Remote if you have and Also Choose the Line Template and Make Sure to Check the Box to Allow End User to Provision Their Own Phones

Now time for LDAP Configuration i Already Blog before about it Earlier Here
so Go to System – LDAP – LDAP System and Check the box and Choose your LDAP Sevrer Type

First make Sure to Edit the user in Active Directory to have their Extension in the IP Phone Filed
Then Go to System – LDAP – LDAP Directory and click Add New
now this is CUCM 10 and you can see there is New Field so
after filling the Required Data go to Access Control Group and add Standard CCM End Users
and Check the Box to Apply Mask to Synced Telephone Number to Create A new line for inserted user and Mask of XXXX
if this Box not checked your end User will not have a Self -Service user ID or Primary Extension which Both Required to Provision a Phone
After Save Press the Button: Perform Full Sync Now

Now go to User Management – End User and Check it Auto take the Self-Service user ID and Primary Extension

Now go to Device – CTI Route Point – Add New
Giv it a Name, Device Pool and a  Location Then Save   10
Now Add the Directory Number Which will be Use by the End User to get the Prompt 11
Now Create and Application user and Associate the CTI with it and Give Standard CTI Enable  Permission

Now go to Server and Enable Auto Registration
Select the Device Template, line template and Starting and Ending Directory that Phone will take Temporarily 14
Finally Now Activate the Service under CUCM Serviceability

now Redirect the user to enter the CTI Number in the Phone and Press the Number it will Ask the User to Enter the Self-user ID
after press the ID which in my Case 7156
it will ask to confirm by pressing Pound and then Phone will Restart

Mediasense 10.5 Media play Fail in IE

I receive an error while try to play the media recording in Mediasense 10.5 using Internet Explorer

“The video could not be loaded, either because the server or network failed or because the format is not supported”
But the funny thing it works fine with Firefox
so i start to look at it and there is

2 solution

so let me show you the Steps

SOLUTION1:

go to the MediaSense Search and Play Configuration under
Mediasense Configuration Page then Administration and Uncheck the Box say Enable In-browser Player

Go to the Cisco MediaSense Search and Play Page 4
Press the Play Button

Choose to Allow Java SE Runtime Security

Choose to Continue 7
you need to Accept the Risk and Press RUN8
Now the Recording Play with JAVA

SOLUTION 2:

Now if you still insist to play on the IE it self not on Java so Use what Cisco Recomend
MediaSense presents a self-signed certificate to the browser, ensure that it is trusted by the browser
When you open a browser there is a Certificate Error press in it and Click View Certificate

Then Choose to Install Certificate

Place all Certificate to the Trusted Root Certification Authorities

Click Next, and then click Finish.4
Choose YES on the pop-up

and Finally Importing was Successful

then go to Internet Option and Choose ADVANCED Tab and go Down and Uncheck the Warn about certificate address mismatch check box Then Restart your IE7
and  Walla it work like a Charm

UCCX ‘Dataset status is Failed (Database error)’

this error message appears in the Cisco Unified Intelligence Center (CUIC) with Unified Contact Center Express (UCCX) when I try to run a report.
and like everything in IT there is always a solution

so let me guide you to this
The Solution is a 2K Fix COP File goes by the name:
ciscouccx.ReportFix.cop.sgn

First download this Fix and save it  to your disk

Then turn on the SFTP and type the Directory path for the file in the Root Path

SSH to the UCCX Server

Initiate the Upgrade CMD in the UCCX
utils system upgrade initiate
Then select option 1 since we are using SFTP and answer the Q  the UCCX then search for a Checking for valid upgrades and it will start install the File

and like that in the last line you see “Successfully installed ciscouccx.ReportFix.cop.sgn”5
Now go to your CUIC Page6

Now run the report that you looking for

And Finally no Error and the Report show the Team Effort  ;D

UCCX Crashed

“Crashed”
is one of the most word that scare any IT Admin
but don’t worry, any problem have a solution
there is many reason the system could crash, specially the boot order of the System

my case was that The Cisco Unified Contact Center Express server is unable to boot. When trying to reboot the server

and it will ask you to insert the recovery disk
what you don’t know is the  UCCX has no recovery disk oops
so the solution is to Use the Unified Communications Manager Recovery CD to restore access to the file system. The Unified Communications Manager Recovery CD can be used on any server and application experiencing this issue. This process can be used to recover both Root and Common partition file systems that are affected. First, you need to download the ISO file for the recovery disk
go to cisco web site to download the ISO

Download it to your PC

Now Configure your VM to boot from the CD

Now This menu for the recovery disk appears:

Finally, choose option Q to exit the recovery disk program. and Remove the recovery disk and reboot the serverUntitled11

Upgrade CUCM 8.6 to 11 Using PCD

Performing upgrades and migrations of CUCM has always been a long, manual process that required lots of staging and prepping as well as after-hours work.  With the release of version 10.X Collaboration Suite, a new product called Cisco Prime Collaboration Deployment (PCD) was released.
It allows the user to perform tasks such as migration of older software versions of clusters to new virtual machines, fresh installs, and upgrades on current clusters.In summary automates upgrade and migration task.
Once PCD is installed and configured, it can be used to perform a variety of tasks cutting down on the amount of time and frustration of a large manual migration.

Supported Releases for the Upgrade Task on PCD Version 10.5

These include releases for the upgrade task on the Upgrade Application Server or Install COP files:

  • Cisco Unified CM Releases Supported: 8.6(1-2), 9.0.(1), 9.1(1), 9.1(2), 10.x
  • Cisco Unified Presence (CUP) Releases Supported: 8.6(3), 8.6(4), 8.6(5)
  • Cisco Unified CM – IM and Presence Releases Supported: 9.0(1), 9.1(1), 10.x
  • Cisco Unified Contact Center Express Releases Supported: 9.0(2), 10.x
  • Cisco Unity Connection Releases Supported:
    • From 8.6(x) to 8.6(x)
    • From 8.6(x) to 9.x
    • From 9.x to 9.x
    • From 10.0(1) to 10.x

I spend the last couple of weeks searching in internet for a way to upgrade from 8.6 to 11 and there was no single resource i could catch to it so i made my OWN

Note.The test been Done on UCSC-C220

So let’s Start
First Download the RSA Keys from Cisco Web Site

RSA keys are used to sign Cisco Unified Communications Manager releases and other updates such as Phone Firmware, Locales, Dialplans, other cop files. This cop can be installed on any UCM or see README for versions needing this cop.

and put it in your SFTP Folder and Upload to your CUCM 8.6

Then i will upload the Image to PCD through Filezilla

First Create a Site Manager2
Add the IP of your PCD and use Admin username : adminsftp & Password:same one used for web  login in PCD3

Now you are inside the PCD Directory if you need to upgrade an existing Cluster then copy the ISO to the Upgrade Folder if you want to create a new Cluster then copy the ISO to the Install Folder
In our Case i want to upgrade

Select the ISO Image and Choose Upload4

Now it’s Complete and the ISO Available Under your Upgrade Folder on the right and also you can check your Data store in the web page

Now To Add a Cluster go to Inventory – Clusters – Discover Cluster1

Then Choose to Assign Function to the Server4

Now we add the Cluster Successfully

Next Task is to Upgrade
From Task Tab – Upgrade
Then Choose to Add a New Upgrade Task

Select from the Drop Down the Cluster and the Product2
Browse From The SFTP The ISO Image

If the Image is not Valid or not Supported it will not Show when you select

And in the monitoring Page it show the task finish successfully on the PCD Page

and Here the new CUCM Page and it shows the System Version 11.0.1 and you only need to upload the new License

MediaSense Call Recording

Media Sense is a Rich software solution for Cisco IP telephony and Contact Center. It’s provide call recording and live monitoring for Active calls

The Installation is basic just like any Cisco product (CUCM, UCCX …etc)
so i will start by the MediaSense Setup wizard and Requirement

First CUCM Part
create an AXL User I name it mediasense
User Management – Application User
1Second Create a record profile I give it Destination address2
and Assign this to the Agent Directory Number Whom you want to Record

Most Important Step is to Create a Transcoder and Assign it to the Device pool

Then Create a SIP Trunk to the MediaSense Server
our MediaSense IP Address is 172.16.245.244345
Last create a Route Pattern to the 399 and Gateway is the MediaSense Trunk that you created earlier6Now Let’s start from the Media Sense Setup Wizard

Enter the IP Address of the CUCM and AXL username and Password

Now you finish and login again

Make sure to select the servers that would work as AXL and Call Control Service Providers 8
Select the user That would Listen to the recording

Choose the Prune policy Configuration

Type the Incoming Call rule which is your Destination Address in CUCM 399 and Choose the Action type

Now logout and provide your Call Center Supervisor by the link
